Welcome to CapnTomBooks.  Our goal is to provide books, music and information to those sympathetic with the southern cause in the War Between the States.

The three greatest raids of General John Hunt Morgan are described in graphic detail in John Bridges’ book, Cap’n Tom- Crisis of Faith.  The action is described through the eyes of one of his junior officers, Cap’n Tom Bridges, A member of the 9th Tennessee Cavalry.

John Bridges’ latest book, Three Cousins from Mechanicsville follows the adventures of Thomas Benton Smith who helped organize the 20th Tennessee Regiment and became the youngest general in the Confederate Army.  One of Smith’s first cousins, DeWitt S. Jobe was a Coleman Scout and like Sam Davis was captured and executed by the Yankees for not providing his source of information.  Unlike Sam Davis, DeWitt S. Jobe was not given a trial and was tortured before he was murdered.  Another first cousin, Dee Smith avenged DeWitt S. Jobe’s death by indiscriminately killing dozens of Yankees before he was finally caught and shot.  He died soon thereafter.

To put you in a better mood after all that tragedy, we have added music to the mix.  The Coleman Scouts band’s new CD, “Are You from Dixie” will make you proud to be a Rebel.  The band is made up of three good ole southern boys who play and sing good ole southern songs from the War Between the States era up to the present. Pop in this CD and we promise you’ll be tappin’ your toes and singing along before you can say Damn Yankee.
